Doesn't the University of Louisville support The Old Medical School Building?

No. The University of Louisville does not support the Old Medical School Building. The Old Medical School Building was saved from the wrecking ball and purchased with the help of former graduates in 1977. The building is now on the historic registrar and is recognized as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit under the umbrella of the Greater Louisville Medical Society Foundation

Where will my gift go?

You tell us! You can choose to give to a specific room, for a certain upgrade, towards our preservation fund or to the beautification of the outside of the building. We will make sure to consult with you in the decision making process.

Is it possible for my gift to remain anonymous?

We are aware that many individuals prefer their gift to remain anonymous. We will certainly respect and honor your wishes in this regard. Knowing that some individuals have different ideas on what anonymity means, we prefer to consult directly with you or your advisors to determine the level of privacy that would be most appropriate.

How do I obtain a receipt for my gift?

You will receive a thank you note in the mail, shortly after your gift is received. You will also receive a letter from the Greater Louisville Medical Society Foundation at the beginning of the year stating how much you gave as your contribution.

What is the Greater Louisville Medical Society Foundation?

The GLMS Foundation exists to promote the betterment of public health and increase awareness of preventive health care practices. In 1977, with the help of former graduates, The GLMS Foundation purchased the Old Medical School Building to not only provide a home for the many physicians of the Greater Louisville Medical Society, but also preserve a part of Louisville's Medical Legacy. Today, The Old Medical School Building is home to the many physicians of the Greater Louisville Medical Society and stands as a reminder to the great medical traditions of our community.
